
Marphona Farms is one of New Zealand’s largest
privately owned dairy farms. Owned and managed by Bruce
Pulman, the company is recognised as the leading quality
dairy farm in New Zealand. Marphona Farms supplies milk
of the highest quality to Fonterra Co-Operative Dairy
Company, New Zealand Dairy Foods Limited and to Green
Valley Dairies. Green Valley Dairies Limited is another
Company in the HEB
Group.
Marphona Farms began as a family business in 1983 and
has continued to expand to farm over 1300 hectares (3211
acres) at Mangatawhiri 45 minutes south of Auckland.
Marphona Farms has developed QA systems to meet the
ISO 9001:2000 International Quality Standard. Marphona
Farms is the only dairy farm in the Southern Hemisphere
to hold ISO 9001:2000.
Marphona Farms also holds a Category Two rating under
New Zealand Occupational Safety and Health. This makes
Marphona Farms an industry leader in this area.
In 1998 Marphona Farms made a commitment to environmentally
sound management by converting 2000 acres to organic
dairy production. The area farmed organically will increase
as additional land is developed to a suitable standard.
Marphona Farms is New Zealand’s largest organic
dairy producer.
Marphona Farms holds both Bio-Gro and AgriQuality Organic
Certifications. Marphona Farms was the first New Zealand
Dairy farm to obtain a Registered Product Safety Programme
(PSP) with New Zealand Food Safety Authority. Marphona
Farms won the Franklin Business Excellence in Agriculture
award in 2002.
